Chemical peels

What are Chemical Peels?
There are two types of chemical peels, medium and deep peels which are carried out by Doctors. And light peels which are carried out by specialist therapists.
Our deep peel is Phenol; our medium peek is TCA; and our light peels are Neostrata and SkinCeuticals.
All our peels are designed to accelerate the removal of old skin cells and promote the production of new healthier skin cells ultimately leaving the skin smoother and rejuvenated.
Our chemical peels are a very popular option with long lasting results.
We suggest a consultation in which we will analysed your skin and recommend the right treatment for your skin needs.
How do Chemical Peels work?
These peels remove more upper layers of the skin than a superficial skin peel would.
The peels can be used for a number of skin complaints such as acne and acne scarring, melasma, photoaging skin, sun damage skin, pigment abnormalities, fine lines and wrinkle’s, age spots.

What is the procedure for this treatment?
A specific skincare regime is needed before the treatment to ensure skin is in optimal condition to maximise the effects. The procedure takes around 30 minutes per session.
The skin is cleansed before the solution is applied to the affected areas. The solution is applied in layers; once the first layer is dried a second layer will be applied. When this is completed a post-peel mask will be applied and massaged into the skin.
Will the treatment hurt?
The patient may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation during the procedure. This pain is however very minimal as no sedation or anaesthetic is needed to carry out this procedure.
Some minimal discomfort may be felt following the procedure. some side effects may cause some redness and itching as the skin begins to peel. Some pain may also be experienced similar to that of mild sun burn.
How long does the treatment take?
This treatment is a course of 4 sessions that are carried out on a weekly basis over a period of 4 weeks. This can be dependant on the recovery of the skin in between treatments.
How long before I see results?
As soon as you finish peeling you will see results. Your skin should continue to improve for 30-60 days as long as you are protected from the sun.
How long before I can go in the sun?
The skin that peels away after the procedure leaves a fresh layer of skin that is vulnerable. It is advised that patient stay out of the sun for at least 6-8 weeks following this treatment.
Sun cream must also be worn at all times following the procedure even in winter time. This is to protect the new skin as it cannot yet do that for itself and if exposed to the sun this may affect the benefits of the treatment.
